The spokesperson for Pakistan armed forces, Major General Asif Ghafoor, stated in a tweet that two Indian aircraft were shot down in the Pakistani airspace and a pilot was arrested after the Indian Air Force fighter jet crashed in J&K’s Budgam area at 10.05 am Wednesday morning.
A Pakistani F-16 jet that violated the line of control early this morning in the Nowshera sector of Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district was shot down in Indian retaliatory fire in Nowshera’s Lam valley. The Pakistani jets, however, dropped bombs near the Indian Army post in Rajouri sector while returning, although there are no reports of any casualties or collateral damage.
The Pakistan government stated that said its strike “was not a retaliation to continued Indian belligerence.” The strikes were apparently carried out at “non military target, avoiding human loss and collateral damage. Sole purpose being to demonstrate our right, will and capability for self-defense.” The statement added that India should give peace a chance and resolve issues like a mature democratic nation.
