While campaigning for the Pandavar Ani in the recently concluded Nadigar Sangam elections Vadivelu compared the demolished Sangam building to his 'Kenatha Kaanom' comedy in the film ‘Kannukku Kannaga’. A Nadigar Sangam member Ayyavu filed a defamation case against the ace comedian in the Namakkal Sessions Court which directed that Vadivelu should appear in person.
Vadivelu appealed in the Chennai High Court against the order and Justice Subbaiah who presided over the case has granted interim stay and provided a reprieve for Vadivelu from appearing in person in Namakkal court.
