‘Khaidi No. 150’ was released in the year 2017. It marked the comeback of Megastar Chiranjeevi. The film was a remake of the Tamil hit ‘Kaththi’.
As per ‘Veera Simha Reddy’ maker Gopichand Malineni, the film’s story was pitched at the behest of AR Murugadoss to Jr NTR first. How then did the project end up with Chiru?
“I was supposed to wield the megaphone for the remake of ‘Kaththi’ in Telugu with Tarak as the hero. We didn’t know that Chiranjeevi garu’s team had bought the remake rights by then from Lyca Productions. There was also some confusion since Thalapathy Vijay, as per our information, insisted that ‘Kaththi’ must be dubbed into Telugu instead of being remade,” the ‘Krack’ director said in an interview.
After the project went to Chiranjeevi, there was nothing that Malineni and the ‘RRR’ actor could have done, as the remake rights were officially with Ram Charan already.
Malineni later pitched another story to Tarak at the behest of Dil Raju. “Tarak was stunned by the level of violence in the script. He told me he was expecting me to narrate an entertainer,” the ‘Balupu’ and ‘Pandaga Chesko’ maker said.
