A special court in Haryana has convicted self proclaimed godman Gurmeet Ram Rahim along with three others in the murder case of a journalist. In 2002, Gurmeet, who is the head of Dera Sacha Sauda sect, was found guilty in the murder of journalist Ram Chandar Chatarpati.

The 51 year old Ram Rahim who is currently serving a 20 year term of jail for raping two of his followers, appeared for the hearing via video conference from Sunaria prison, Rohtak. Ram Chandar was shot dead in 2002 for publishing articles exposing the sexual exploitation done by Ram Rahim Singh.

Today, the judge Jagdeep Singh pronounced the verdict that Ram Rahim, and the other three accused Kuldeep Singh, Nirmal Singh and Krishan lal are convicted, and the sentencing will be on January 17. Following the conviction, Ram Rahim's followers are destroying public property and are involved in violence.
