Telangana State Election Commissioner C Parthasarathi has said that elections to the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) will be held in November or December. A notification to this effect will be issued soon.
Earlier in the week, it was announced that elections will be conducted with ballot boxes and ballot papers this time.
EVMs have been done away with this year because of the pandemic. A lot of manpower would be needed to ensure EVMs are deployed and made to function smoothly. Therefore, ballot boxes would be relied upon to avoid risks.
This is the first time since 2002 that ballot boxes are back in GHMC elections.
