Veteran actress Geethanjali on Thursday morning passed away at private a hospital in Hyderabad after suffering a massive heart attack. A versatile actress known for doing a wide range of roles, Geethanjali cackled up the screen in more than 300 movies. A multi-lingual actress, her career spanned decades and her films were in all the south Indian languages.
Known for films such as ‘Seetharama Kalyanam’ and ‘Doctor Chakravarthy’, she also was part of hits such as ‘Goodachari 116’, ‘Sri Sri Maryada Ramanna’, among others.
Not only was she paired up with notable actors of the day but was also sought after for her excellent comic timing.
Mourning her death, former AP Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu said, “She acted as Seetha in NT Rama Rao garu-directed ‘Seetharama Kalyanam’. As a comedienne, she has found a permanent place in the hearts of the Telugu audience. I pray that her soul rests in peace. Condolences to her bereaved family.”
