The short film 'Karthik Dial Seiytha Yenn' directed by Gautham Menon is like a small prequel to the proposed 'Vinnai Thaandi Varuvya 2'. The film with music score by A.R. Rahman had Simbu as Karthik and Trisha as Jessie from the original 2010 cult classic. The entire duration was a conversation between the two ten years after they parted ways and Jessie is now in Kerala settled with her husband and two kids.
'Karthik Dial Seiytha Yenn' showed that Simbu's character is in a depressed state as he is unable to write his script and the coronavirus lockdown also bogs him down. He calls the one person who can revive him and Jessie too responds to him and when he says he needs her she says that she loves him like his third child.
Meme creators had a field day and conservative critics felt that GVM is promoting illicit relationships. We got in touch with the intense filmmaker in which he has shared in-depth aspects of the short film and the proposed sequel.
GVM has stated that the important thing is that Jessie and Karthick are in a space where they can have such a supportive conversation and when he says he needs her it does not mean in any wrong way but as a pillar of support to revive him. People mistook that when he says he wants to live under her feet is not like saying I want to lick your feet but under her shadow where he feels safe. There is much more in the video interview below that sheds all the light needed for the most talked about shot film in the lockdown period.
