Gautham Karthik one of the leading young heroes in Tamil cinema is busy with multiple projects in hand that include 'Anandham Vilayadum Veedu' with Cheran, an untitled film costarring Parthiban directed by Ezhil and 'Pathu Thala' that has him sharing screen space with Simbu.

It is a well known that Gautham is the eldest son of legendary actor Karthik and the grand son of another legend Muthuraman. Sunday happened to be the birth anniversary of one of Muthuraman and Gautham took to social media to post an emotional message to him with a strong promise as well.

Gautham wrote"Even though I never got to know you in person, I'm glad that I get to know you through all the people whose lives you have touched. And from what I've learned of you, I'm proud to be the grandson of a man who was so humble, so loving, so hardworking, extremely talented and dedicated. And I hope to make you proud of me someday too...Happy Birthday Thatha! #Muthuraman #HappyBirthday"

Muthuraman was one of the few actors who held his own in an era dominated by the big three Sivaji, MGR and Gemini. He had the ability to effortlessly portray the hero, comedian, villain or supporting character that earned him the tag Navarasa Thilagam. He passed away at a relatively young age of 52 in the year 1981 just before the release of his youngest son Karthik's debut movie 'Alaigal Oiyvathillai'.
