The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has reportedly given the sponsorship rights of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 to fantasy cricket league platform Dream11.Dream11 which is a partner of BCCI already, has overtaken favourites Tata Sons in the bidding.
Besides Dream11 and the Tata Group, the other prominent bidders include education technology platforms Byju's and Unacademy. Dream11 had won the bid for Rs 250 crores, while the next best bids were Unacademy (210 crores), Tatas (180 crores) and Byju's (125 crores).
The IPL 2020 title sponsorship was vacant following the withdrawal of Vivo, which had signed a 2000-crore-plus five-year deal (between 2018-2022) with BCCI, after the rising opposition against China post the India-China standoff at the Galwan Valley in Ladakh in June.
