Five movies you can chillout with at Home this weekend

 

There seems to be no respite in the standoff between the Tamil Film Producers Council and the Digital Service Providers and hence here we go with our fourth episode of presenting to you five movies you can chill out with at home this weekend.  The movies in various languages also belong to different genres that would surely give you a variety fare.

1) Cube (1997) – Canadian Horror thriller 

 

Three men and two women, unconnected to each other, wake up in a cubical room with none of them knowing where they are and how they came in.  The room has a hatch on all sides which when opened leads to other rooms (thousands in fact) that go on endlessly.  Each room is rigged with a trap which will kill triggered by sound and movement and what happens to the unfortunate group is what this thrill ride is all about.

 

 

2) Amelie (2001) – French Romantic comedy

The heartwarming tale of a lonely young girl Amelie (Audrey Tautou) who plays tricks on those around her and in the process making them realise their dreams.  How she finds love and atlast escapes her lonely existence is what this cult classic is all about which would make you laugh as much as form a lump in your throats.

 

3) The Good, the Bad, the Weird (2008) – Korean Action comedy

An adaptation of Sergio Leonne’s classic Clint Eastwood starrer ‘The Good, the Bad and the Ugly’, this Korean movie is full of action and humour to boot.  All the stunt sequences are beautifully captured by director Kim Jee Woon and the lead players Song Kang – ho, Lee Byung-hun and Jung Woo-sung keep the film moving at a lively pace with their perfect acting.

 

4) Vicky Donor (2012) – Hindi Adult Romantic Comedy

This National Award Winning movie by Shoojith Sircar tells the tale of a sperm donor Vicky (Ayushman Khurrana) who brings happiness to thousands of families but his own wife played by Yami Gautam ends up being unable to bear a child.  The film provides the laughs as well as the emotions and is a perfect wholesome entertainer for you weekend watch.

 

5) Mumbai Police (2013) – Malayalam Murder Mystery 

Rosshann Andrews who later found National acclaim with ‘Drishyam’/’Papanasam’ and its multilingual remakes gives a perfect murder mystery in which Prithviraj plays an amnesiac cop reconstructing the murder case of his close friend and cop Jayasurya.  The real killer cannot be guessed till the very end and you should be careful about your finger nails while engrossed.
