Prominent dubbing artist and well-respected film industry personality Ghantasala Ratnakumar is no more. He was a dubbing artist of repute for about 40 years, although he was not that active in the last decade. The second son of the legendary singer Ghantasala was suffering from various health issues and had contracted Covid-19.

Reports say that Ratnakumar breathed his last after he suffered cardiac arrest at a private hospital in Chennai, days after he tested negative for the virus.
By the turn of the 2010s, Ratnakumar had dubbed for more than one thousand movies not just in Telugu but also in Hindi, Tamil and Malayalam. It’s said that he was fluent in Sanskrit as well. Ratnakumar was a sought-after dubbing artist in the TV industry as well. He dubbed for more than 12,000 episodes of various serials in Telugu and Tamil. His dense voice and affable vocals made him the go-to guy.
A winner of the prestigious Nandi Award, Ratnakumar never looked back once he started making dubbing his first job. Referred to as the ‘Kalaiselvam’ and ‘Kuralselvam’, he was also known as the ‘Ugadi Puraskar’.
