Female director arrested for forcing young man to act in 18 plus web series

In recent times web series have gained prominence growing at a rapid pace and are as popular as movies with more producers jumping into the bandwagon.  While most see this as an opportunity to tell detailed stories some exploit it due to lack of censorship to create adult content.

Lakshmi Deepta (37) hails from Kottayam, Kerala who has directed a few web series that have been released on OTD platforms.  Most of her work is said to be of the 18+ variety adult content.  On Friday she was arrested following a shocking complaint by an aspiring actor.

A 26-year-old man interested in film acting lodged a complaint at the Aruvvkara police station in Kerala.  He has stated in his complaint “I approached Lakshmi Deepta seeking an opportunity to act in a film after seeing an advertisement for actors.  She asked me to sign a contract saying he will cast me as the hero and trusting her I signed it.”

The unnamed man added in his petition “Shooting happened in the Aruvvkara  area and I was shocked when Lakshmi forced me to act in a pornographic scene. I refused but she threatened me with the signed contract and warned that I have to pay compensation of 5 lakh rupees if I did not accept.  I had no option but to act in the scene.  I request that the web series be banned as if it  goes on air, my family life will be severely affected,”

Based on the complaint, Lakshmi Deepta was arrested by the police and produced in the court. The Kerala High Court has granted her conditional bail. This incident has created a sensation in the Kerala film industry.
