“Fake News Is Hard to Handle”: Director Premkumar Clarifies Rumors About ’96’: Part 2

Director C. Premkumar recently confirmed that he has completed the screenplay for the sequel to his critically acclaimed film 96. However, soon after his announcement, speculation began circulating in the media and on social platforms suggesting that actor Vijay Sethupathi had opted out of the project. Some reports even claimed that Premkumar had approached actor Pradeep Ranganathan, who also allegedly declined the role.

Premkumar has since addressed and denied these rumors. In a statement, he emphasized that 96: Part 2 will feature the original cast, including Vijay Sethupathi and Trisha.

“As always, these rumors are completely false. 96-2 can only be made with the same actors who brought the first film to life. I had spoken to Mr. Pradeep Ranganathan regarding a completely unrelated project. It has nothing to do with 96-2,” said Premkumar.

He also expressed his frustration over the spread of misinformation:

“Dealing with fake news is becoming increasingly difficult. I urge members of the media to report responsibly and stick to the truth.”

With this clarification, Premkumar has reaffirmed that the beloved characters of 96 will continue their story with the original cast intact.
