The first single from Prabhas’ upcoming film The Raja Saab, composed by S Thaman, was unveiled recently, giving fans a glimpse into the romantic horror-comedy entertainer directed by Maruthi. The big-ticket film is gearing up for a grand Sankranthi 2026 release, with its theatrical debut locked for January 9. Malavika Mohanan, Nidhhi Agerwal, and Ridhhi Kumar play the female leads.
Speaking at the ABP Southern Rising Summit, Malavika Mohanan shared her excitement about the project and offered insight into her character. Calling The Raja Saab her official Telugu debut, she expressed confidence that her role will stand out.
“I have done a film with Prabhas sir, which is The Raja Saab. It is set for Sankranthi/Pongal release on January 9. I am very excited because it’s my Telugu debut. If I may say so, it’s a great role for the girl as well,” she said, adding that strong female roles in superstar films are often rare. “Usually, women get 5–6 scenes and a song. If we are lucky, we get two songs.”
Reflecting on her choices as an actor, Malavika noted that each film contributes differently to an artist’s journey. “A career of an actor is like a puzzle—every film fits somewhere. Sometimes directors offer us characters that help us grow, and sometimes a role is more of a business decision. Even if the role isn’t huge, being part of a big film adds its own value,” she explained.
However, she emphasized that her character in The Raja Saab comes with more depth and substance, something fans can look forward to experiencing on screen.
With the film now in post-production, expectations are steadily rising as audiences await Prabhas’ next outing and Malavika Mohanan’s promising Telugu debut.
