English singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran announced yesterday the birth of his first child - a daughter with wife Cherry Seaborn last week.

The couple gave their daughter a unique name - Lyra Antarctica Seaborn Sheeran. Sharing the news on social media on Tuesday, Ed Sheeran posted a picture of the baby's cot and a pair of her socks. The singer had written, "Ello! A quick message from me as I have some personal news that I wanted to share with you... Last week, with the help of an amazing delivery team, Cherry gave birth to our beautiful and healthy daughter - Lyra Antarctica Seaborn Sheeran. We are completely in love with her. Both mum and baby are doing amazing and we are on cloud nine over here. We hope that you can respect our privacy at this time. Lots of love and I'll see you when it's time to come back." Regarding the birth of Lyra, a source close to the couple reportedly told a news agency, "Ed and Cherry (wife) are over the moon. They're very excited, but have kept things very low key. Lockdown was a perfect excuse not to be seen out and about too much, but things are getting closer and the excitement has been building so they have started telling friends and family. They're just making the last of the preparations at home, and the baby is expected later this summer. It's a really happy time and their families are all totally delighted for them and cannot wait to meet the new arrival."

Ed Sheeran became globally famous after the release of his viral song, 'Shape of You,' one of the double lead singles from his third studio album '÷' on 6 January 2017. According to reports, the song became the first song to hit 2 billion streams and the most streamed song on Spotify on 10 December 2018. It was also the most-streamed song of the decade on Spotify with 2.4 billion streams by December 2019. Ed Sheeran announced his engagement to Cherry in January 2018 and got married to her later that year in a private ceremony.
