Election Schedule for Lok Sabha, AP assembly released

The Rajiv Kumar-led Election Commission of India (ECI) recently announced the dates for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. The general election for 543 Lok Sabha seats will be held in seven phases from April 19. The counting of votes will take place on June 4.

This announcement followed the recent appointment of two new Election Commissioners, Gyanesh Kumar and Sukhbir Singh Sandhu, after the resignation of Arun Goel and the retirement of Anup Chandra Pandey.

The Model Code of Conduct (MCC) will come into effect after the announcement of the election dates. This code regulates the behavior of political parties, candidates, and governments during elections.

Andhra Pradesh is scheduled to go to polls on May 13, with the results announced on June 4. The election code of conduct in Andhra Pradesh will be effective from April 18, with the deadline for nominations on April 25.

Candidates for Parliament can spend up to Rs. 90 lakhs, while those contesting for the Assembly can spend up to Rs. 38 lakhs.

The current government’s term is ending on June 16.

The total number of eligible voters for the Lok Sabha elections is approximately 96.8 crore, who will cast their votes at over 12 lakh polling stations across India.

The total electorate for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections is 96.8 crores, comprising 49.7 crores male voters and 47.1 crores female voters. Additionally, there are 48,000 transgender voters, 82 lakh voters above the age of 85, 1.85 crore youth who will vote for the first time, and 19.74 crores voters in the age group of 20 to 29.
