Dulquer Salmaan’s ‘I’m Game’ may not arrive in theatres on August 20 as originally planned. The Malayalam action thriller, which was positioned as an Onam release, is reportedly being pushed to a later date as the makers look to secure a more favourable release window.
The film’s postponement is said to be largely due to the competition at the box office during the Onam season. ‘I’m Game’ was expected to release in a crowded period alongside big-ticket projects such as Suriya’s ‘Vishwanath and Sons’ and Yash’s ‘Toxic’. With multiple high-profile films competing for screens and audience attention, the team is reportedly considering moving away from the busy season.
The promotional strategy is another factor reportedly being discussed. The makers are said to be dissatisfied with the impact of the promotions released so far and are planning a stronger campaign before the film reaches theatres. The additional time could allow the team to build greater buzz around Dulquer’s latest Malayalam outing.

According to the latest reports, November is currently being considered as a possible release window for ‘I’m Game’. However, the makers are yet to officially announce whether the film has been postponed or confirm a new release date.
Directed by Nahas Hidhayath, ‘I’m Game’ marks Dulquer Salmaan’s return to Malayalam cinema following ‘King of Kotha’. Nahas previously impressed audiences with his debut directorial ‘RDX’, raising expectations for his next action venture.
Dulquer is also backing the project as a producer through Wayfarer Films. The film features Samyuktha Viswanathan and Kayadu Lohar among the prominent cast members, while Jakes Bejoy is composing the music.
While fans will have to wait a little longer for clarity on the release plans, the reported postponement could give ‘I’m Game’ a less crowded theatrical window and more time to strengthen its promotional campaign. An official announcement from the makers is awaited.
