Director Vetrimaaran worked on his two-part project, 'Viduthalai', for almost three years. The first part finally hit the screens on March 31 and emerged as a huge hit. Viduthalai is a gut-wrenching story about the conflict between the government and the people force.
Soori and Vijay Sethupathi played the lead roles in the film. The expectations for the sequel skyrocketed after Viduthalai 1 became a tremendous hit. Viduthalai 2 was expected to be released in September earlier but the latest reports suggest otherwise. We hear that the 'Viduthalai Part 2' release might be pushed to a later date.
Vetri Maaran is going to shoot for some portions in 'Viduthalai 2' featuring Vijay Sethupathi and Prakash Raj reportedly. He has planned to resume filming by May/June. The makers have planned to shoot the remaining portions in a grand manner, and also the CG portions need some more time. So, the 'Viduthalai Part 2' might be released in December 2023 or at an earlier date in 2024.
Viduthalai is based on the short story 'Thunaivan' by writer Jeyamohan. The portions inspired by the short story will feature in part 2. The film also stars Bhavani Sre, Gautham Menon, Rajiv Menon, Ilavarasu, Thamizh, Chetan and many others. Ilaiyaraaja has composed the musical score with cinematography by Velraj and editing by R Ramar.
