The trend of keeping Superstar Rajinikanth's yesteryear film titles has been catching up in the recent years in Kollywood. The latest to join the list is the Tamil remake of Bollywood film 'Jolly LLB' which has been titled as 'Manithan' borrowing the title of the 1987 super hit film starring Rajinikanth and Rupini.

The film stars Udhayanidhi Stalin and Hansika in lead roles and directed by Ahmed of 'Endrendrum Punnagai' fame. Ahmed has said that the rights for the title 'Manithan' has been acquired from the AVM Productions the prestigious banner which produced the 1987 film with the same title. He also clarified that the title was selected just because the Superstar factor but because it aptly matches with the story of the film.

The film is the story of a person who makes many mistakes in life and reforms after a point and that makes the 'Manithan' title suitable for the film according to Ahmed.

The director also claims that despite the film being a remake he has worked a lot on the screenplay to suit the sensibilities of Tamil audience.
