The phenomenal actor Dhanush received the National award for Best Actor on 25th October in New Delhi. He has been bestowed for his impeccable performance in Vetri Maaran’s ‘Asuran‘. Now, the latest reports suggest that Dhanush’s upcoming film ‘Maaran‘ might skip a theatrical release.
We had already brought you the news that the multi-talented star has wrapped up his portions in ‘Thiruchitrambalam‘ and joined the final schedule of Karthik Naren’s Maaran. The shooting of the investigative thriller is currently underway in Chennai. According to the sources, Maaran is likely to premiere directly on an OTT platform without any theatrical release.
If reports are to be believed, Disney+Hotstar seems to be the frontrunner in snapping up the streaming rights of Maaran. However, an official announcement regarding the film’s release is still awaited. Malavika Mohanan plays the female lead opposite Dhanush in the movie. Touted to be an action thriller, the leads are playing the role of journalists. This speculation has left the online Dhanush fans confused and disappointed.
With Maaran in the queue, Dhanush has totally three films lined up for the direct digital premiere. The pan-Indian actor steps into Hollywood with the direct Netflix film ‘The Gray Man‘, sharing screen space with Chris Evans and Ryan Gosling and directed by ‘The Avengers‘ fame Russo brothers. Dhanush’s Bollywood film ‘Atrangi Re‘ co-starring Akshay Kumar and Sara Ali Khan is said to have a Netflix release.
