Actor Dhanush, who had given a powerful performance as Sivasamy in last year's superhit movie Asuran directed by Vetrimaaran, is next shooting for another strong content based movie Karnan, his 41st movie which is directed by Mari Selvaraj who made a strong debut with Pariyerum Perumal.

Karnan is reportedly based on the 1999 Manjolai massacre which lead to the death of many workers of the tea estate, and this movie produced by Kalaipuli S Thanu has music by Santhosh Narayanan. Malayalam actress Rajisha Vijayan makes her debut in Tamil as the female lead.

Actor Lal who plays an important role in the movie has posted a photo from the shoot, captioning it as "Yemen and Karnan" indicating that he's playing a character named Yemen, and Dhanush's look in the still reminds one of his look in Vetrimaaran's Aadukalam. Karnan also stars Yogi Babu and Azhagamperumal.
