Desingh Periasamy is a young and vibrant director who made a dream debut with the 2020 film, 'Kannum Kannum Kollai Adithal'. Now, he has teamed up with Atman Simbu for his second film, tentatively called 'STR 48'. Produced by Kamal Haasan, the film is currently in the pre-production stage.

Desingh Periasamy is an ardent fan of Superstar Rajinikanth. He was earlier expected to join with Thalaivar for his second film but the movie didn't happen. After 'STR 48' was officially announced, reports broke out that this was the same story which Desingh had narrated to Rajinikanth. In his recent interview, Desingh Periasamy was asked if the reports were true.

Desingh confirmed that this was the same story he had narrated to the Superstar. He further added that he didn't make any further changes to the script when Simbu came on board and it suited STR perfectly. He said that STR 48 will be a thara local period film with dance, stunts and an all-around performance from Simbu.

Desingh confirmed that the shooting will commence in January 2024. He said, "The movie will have multiple characters and we aren't focused on roping Pan-Indian artists. Whoever is perfect for the role will be cast." Simbu will be playing dual roles in this movie and the actor has undergone heavy physical training for the role. He sported a new long-hair look for STR 48.
