The much-awaited collaboration between NTR and director Trivikram Srinivas, tentatively titled God of War, has run into controversy shortly after its official announcement.
The big-budget mythological drama, inspired by Lord Murugan (Kartikeya/Subramanya Swamy), has sparked a debate over a line in its promotional material that describes the deity as “born in the North and revered in the South.” The statement has drawn objections from some groups in Tamil Nadu.
Tamil politician Seeman has now reacted strongly to the issue, alleging that the description does not reflect the cultural and historical significance of Lord Murugan in Tamil tradition. He maintained that Murugan has long been regarded as an integral part of Tamil identity and warned against portraying the deity in a manner that could be seen as historically inaccurate.
Seeman further stated that if the completed film contains content that, in his view, misrepresents Lord Murugan or hurts Tamil sentiments, protests could be launched against the project. He urged the filmmakers to clarify the issue before production progresses further.

Despite the growing discussion, the makers have remained silent and are yet to issue an official statement addressing the controversy.
God of War marks the reunion of NTR and Trivikram Srinivas after the blockbuster Aravinda Sametha Veera Raghava. The film is expected to feature NTR in the role of Lord Murugan and is scheduled to commence production next year.
Backed by S. Radha Krishna (China Babu) under Haarika & Hassine Creations, in association with NTR Arts, the ambitious project also has Kalyan Ram as one of the producers. With massive expectations already surrounding the film, all eyes are now on how the makers respond to the controversy in the coming days.
