Today (August 26th) in the IPL 2019 one of the most exciting encounters is brewing as the points table leaders Chennai Super Kings and the third-placed Mumbai Indians lock horns at the Chepauk Stadium in Chennai. The two teams last met in this stadium a good nine years back in the 2010 version of the tournament on April 6th.
M.S. Dhoni won the toss and elected to bat but his team found the going tough as boundaries and sixes were hard to come by even to the burly Mathew Hayden or the classy Murali Vijay and sure shot Suresh Raina. They limped on to put up a decent 165 for 4 with Haydo top scoring with 35 off 31 balls. The Mumbai Indians got off to a flying start with the Maestro Sachin Tendulkar and the explosive Shikhar Dhawan opening but the latter perished for 16 when the score read 46. Then their captain Sachin got dehydrated and retired hurt at 62 for 1 after which Rayudu, Pollard and Bravo were out cheaply trying to hit big shots. Then it became too hard for the visitors and only thanks to a late flurry from Harbhajan Singh (33 not out) they got to 141 for 9 and lost.
In todays match Bhajji, Rayudu and Bravo are wearing yellow and only Pollard and Malinga remain in blue from that eventful day. Will Rohit, Pandya and Bumraah and co turn the tables on MSD's carefully orchestrated winning formula remains to be seen around midnight today.
