The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) franchise had an extremely good season in the Indian Premier League (IPL) this year, owing to contribution from nearly every player, making it that much harder for them to retain only four players of the team ahead of the mega auction next year.
CSK ultimately decided to retain Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, captain MS Dhoni, young batsman Ruturaj Gaikwad, and England all-rounder Moeen Ali, who was the only overseas player to be retained. Some of the most reliable players of the team, including Faf du Plessis, Dwayne Bravo, Sam Curran, and Shardul Thakur, among others, were released by the franchise. However, CSK’s CEO Kasi Viswanathan has confirmed that the management will attempt to buy one of these players at the upcoming mega auction.
In a video posted by CSK, he had said, “We look forward to getting them back. For example, Faf has been a team man who has taken us to the finals of two important seasons. It will be our endeavor to go and try for him. But it’s not in our hands.
We wish them all the very best wherever they are. We look forward to having a very good 2022.”
