Scientists have developed a candidate vaccine against COVID-19 and have already administered it to a human. "The first human trial to evaluate the candidate vaccine has begun in Seattle in the US," authorities have been quoted as saying.

This doesn't mean that the vaccine will be readily available for wide consumption any time soon. Experts estimate that it may take more than a year for the candidate vaccine to pass all trial phases.

Named mRNA-1273, the vaccine was developed by scientists at the US National Institutes of Health (NIH) in collaboration with a biotech company.

As of now, about 45 healthy adult volunteers in the age-group of 18 to 55 have been recruited to perform experiments on.
