CNBC-TV18 has quoted sources from the Maharashtra government as saying that no tickets will be sold for the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League. This decision has been taken to “prevent crowd gathering as a precaution to stop the spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19).”
The decision comes as a terrible disappointment for the fans of cricket. The T20 cricket series will start from March 29 in Mumbai.
Just earlier this week, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) sources were quoted as saying that no decision has been taken on the postponement of IPL. “As of now, no decision has been taken. We are monitoring the situation; we will take all the precautions,” ANI reported.
