?Rakta Charitra? Suri killed

We all know that ?Rakta Charitra?, the Ram Gopal Varma film starring Suriya and Vivek Oberoi in lead roles, is inspired by the lives of two powerful men in the neighbouring Andhra Pradesh.

On Monday evening, Maddelacheruvu Suri (the inspiration for the character played by Suriya), who was the prime accused in the killing of TDP leader Paritala Ravi (played by Vivek Oberoi), died in an attack in Navodaya Colony, Yousufguda area of Hyderabad.

Suri was in the city to report to the CBI every fortnight, one of the conditions for bail in the murder case of Paritala Ravi, the Telugu Desam legislator. Suri was attacked when he was returning from Sanath Nagar where he had gone to meet his advocate. One of his aides is reportedly shot him fatally.

According to reports, Andhra Pradesh remains tense after the attack and police have been deployed in sensitive areas across the State, especially in Rayalaseema which is known for its factional warfare.
