NTR Jr has won his spurs in the industry as an actor who mouths heavy dialogues and heavier rhetoric. But it was also clear that it was all getting a bit monotonous for his fans.
The failure of his last two films is a good case in point. The ‘punch dialogues’ were ringing hollow. It was clear that NTR Jr needed a make-over. And that is what he is getting in B Gopal’s film.
Like Vikram in Sivaputrudu, NTR Jr has hardly any dialogues in the film. He plays an angry man who avenges the killing of his younger siblings.
A remake of a hit Kannada movie, this film also has Amisha Patel, Sameera Reddy and an item song in Aarti Agarwal. In the second half, NTR Jr bashes the baddies and does have dialogues ("after all, we can’t stop playing to his strength", is the contention of the producer).
But the very fact that NTR Jr is ready to experiment and ready to do new things is a good enough message. The film is set for release next month.
