Bikini babes on the rise

Pretty lasses adorned in bikinis was a sight for sore eyes to world audiences through Hollywood blockbusters during the swinging sixties. After about a decade bikini-clad heroines were seen in Hindi Cinema a la ‘Bobby’.

This particular facet of leading ladies wearing bikinis has taken some time to trickle down South. Nayantara made headlines wearing a bikini in the stylish film ‘Billa’. The tone seems to have been set from then on.

Grapevine has it that numerous directors wanted their leading ladies to appear in bikinis without much success. But then there are some who are quite successful too. Director Vishnuvardhan who churned out ‘Billa’ is working on ‘Sarvam’ right now and word has it that Trisha who is the leading lady of the film will be seen clad in a bikini.

The bikini fever has caught on. Now, Priya Mani will be seen in the famous two-piece attire for a Telugu film titled ‘Drona’ where she co-stars with Nithin.

The actress who won the National Award for best Actress playing a village belle in the film ‘Paruthiveeran’ has indeed made a huge stride towards glamour.

Is this the beginning of ‘bikini fever’ in South Indian Cinema?
