Captain takes guard

Captain takes guard

Trust Vijayakanth, the uncrowned ‘captain’ of Kollywood to mean business straight away.

On the very first day of taking charge as the president of Nadigar Sangam (he was re-elected to the post with a thumping margin), Vijayakanth made all the right noises that would please the industry men.

Vijayakanth has assured to sort out the issue of reducing the salary of actors after holding talks with the actors and the Tamil Film Producers Council.

This is a very ticklish issue and the actors are pretty loath to talk about it.

But Vijayakanth has set the ball rolling.

At the assumption of office by the newly elected team of Nadigar Sangam in Chennai Monday, Vijayakanth further said, the pension being extended to the number of poor and old members of the association would be increased.

Besides, a special starnite show would be held and the proceeds would be utilised to do construct a commercial complex and proceeds would be utilised for the betterment of the sangam.

Sarath Kumar assumed charge as General Secretary, Nepolean, Radha Ravi and S S Chandran as Secretaries and host of other film artistes including Karthick and Kushboo as the committee members.

A good beginning indeed.
