Bollywood superstar Salman Khan, his sister Alvira Khan and seven others have been summoned by the Chandigarh police following a complaint of cheating registered against them by a local businessman.
The businessman, identified as Arun Gupta, had stated in his complaint that he had spent over Rs. 2 crore to open an exclusive store under the brand 'Being Human Jewellery', but did not receive any kind of backup or promotions from the franchise. The Being Human Foundation is a Mumbai-based charity, founded by Salman Khan in 2007. Apart from Salman Khan and Alvira, the police have also summoned Being Human Foundation's CEO and officials of Style Quotient (licensee of Being Human Jewellery) for an inquiry on July 13 to verify facts of the complaint. The businessman has also demanded the registration of an FIR in the case.
Arun Gupta was quoted as saying by a news agency, "After opening the showroom, we have not received any spot. They called us for a meet-and-greet with Salman Khan. I met him and he promised me. Now 1.5 years have passed and I have not received anything. Salman did not reply to my letters." Further updates on the matter are awaited.
