CM Revanth Reddy’s diktat to traffic police

Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has emphasized the need to eliminate the practice of disrupting general traffic for the movement of the CM’s convoy. In a directive from the Chief Minister’s office, he urged police officials to explore alternative measures to prevent traffic congestion without the necessity of traffic halts. Reddy has additionally called for a reduction in the convoy size from the current 15 vehicles to 9, underlining his commitment to personally understand the issues facing the public during extensive tours.

Addressing the challenges of traffic disruptions, he has actively sought suggestions from law enforcement officers to ensure the smooth flow of traffic during his commutes and avoid inconveniencing the public. In another development, the Prajavani program, a weekly citizen grievances redressal initiative by the Telangana Government, witnessed an overwhelming response. Despite being scheduled from 10 am to 1 pm at Mahatma Jyotirao Phule Praja Bhavan in Greenlands, crowds began gathering as early as 6 am. The sheer number of applicants from various districts led to queues stretching over half a kilometer, affecting traffic in Begumpet, Panjagutta, and Banjara Hills during peak hours.

Chief Minister Revanth Reddy initiated the Prajavani program on December 8, signaling a proactive approach to addressing citizen concerns. Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, actively participating in the program, received applications and subsequently headed to the Assembly.

To alleviate traffic concerns, the Hyderabad Traffic Police issued advisories and deployed personnel to regulate traffic in affected areas. The Telangana government has decided to maintain Dharna Chowk at Indira Park, with instructions to the city police to facilitate peaceful demonstrations without disrupting traffic. Hyderabad Police Commissioner Kottakota Srinivas Reddy inspected Dharna Chowk, assuring improvements in facilities while emphasizing the right to peaceful protest in a democratic society, with a commitment to maintaining law and order during such demonstrations.
