'Pandian Stores' fame actress Chithra fondly known as Chithu by her friends and fans died by apparently hanging herself in the bathroom of a star hotel she was staying in near Nazrethpet in Chennai. Her husband Hemanth Kumar had stated that she came back from a shoot after midnight on December 8th and went in for a bath but did not return for a long time and later her body was found hanging.
Controversies arose that there were bruises on Chithra's face in the form of nail grazing and foul play was suspected by her friends and colleagues. The 29 year old actress's mother had accused Hemanth Kumar of murdering her daughter and requested fans to help get her justice.
The postmortem of Chithra's body was completed at the Kilpauk Hospital in Chennai and her mortal remains were then handed over to the family who have shifted it to their Kotturpuram residence for the last rites.
The postmortem report has reportedly concluded that Chithra had indeed committed suicide and the nail marks on her body is her own. The police have now decided to probe the case to find the reason for her to take the extreme step and if anyone instigated it.
Inquiries have started with Hemanth Kumar and his family, Chithra's family, friends and colleagues and the RDO is expected to make public the findings as soon as the investigations are completed.
