With Chennai beginning to experience summer, citizens are gearing up to embrace the rise in temperatures. However, there is also a question if this summer will bring water shortage to the city’s residents.

Tamil Nadu Weatherman aka Pradeep John has opined on the subject recently in his social page and the message was clear: no, Chennai will not be facing water shortage this time. And why? According to Pradeep, this is the second best water storage level that we’re having after the 2015 floods. Citing good north east monsoon rains, Pradeep also stated that Chennai will have nearly 5 tmc of water ahead of this summer.

It is also worth mentioning here that the Chennai Metro Water has issued a press release to not believe rumours about water shortage. Here below is this year’s storage level in the city’s dams which are considerably higher than the last year:

Chembarabakkam : 1348 MCft
Red Hills: 1411 Mcft
Poondi: 1882 MCft
Cholavaram: 286 Mcft
