Trekking club shut down after Theni forest fire

The recent massive forest fire in Theni district has brought grief and shock to one and all. About 9 nine lives have been lost while the Indian Airforce has deployed helicopters to search and rescue the stranded individuals.

In light of this incident, the organisers of the trek- Chennai Trekking Club has been shut down. The club was operating from a residential house as its office and headed by Peter who hails from Belgium. The Korangani trek was headed by volunteers Divya and Nisha with 27 trekkers from Chennai on March 10,11. The special trek for women was conducted in tandem as a Women’s day initiative who were enlisted via online.

The ensemble was caught in the massive forest fire while on the way back from the trek to Korangini. Pertaining to this, the Chennai Trekking Club in Pallavakkam has been shut down and its name boards have been removed.
