Heavy to very heavy rains are expected in Chennai, Kancheepuram, Tiruvallur and in many places in Tamil Nadu starting from the night of December 1st and continue on the 2nd and could extend for two more days after that.  The past two days have also given considerable rains with sharp increase in water levels of the Poondy and the Veeranam lakes.

It may be recalled that on Decemeber 1st 2015 Chennai and its suburbs were submerged in water due to a rare climatic occurrence that left the zone crippled for ten days causing huge damage to property and few even lost their lives.  But according to Tamil Nadu Weatherman Pradeep John these rains will do more good to solve the water problem of the city and its neighboring areas though the inevitable water logging on roads and streets would pose problems.

Apart from Chennai other areas including North Tamil Nadu, Nilgiris, Tirunelveli and in short the whole of Tamil Nadu could benefit from the current spell and the winter has also set in with the temperature dropping drastically.  More updates to follow on Monday.
