Chaaru Haasan, one of the oldest actors in the world to play a commercial hero

Chaaru Haasan at the age of 87 is playing a commercial hero in the upcoming ‘Dha Dha 87’ in which he has been billed as the “Aging Superstar” and is playing a dreaded don.  The National Award winning veteran actor even has a love interest in the film played by Saroja the grandmother of actress Keerthy Suresh.

If we take the world cinema, for example, there are very few actors above eighty who are doing lead roles and one name that comes to mind is Clint Eastwood who is 88 now and last played the leading man in ‘The Mule’ released in 2018.  Others such as Al Pacino and Robert De Niro are in their late 70s.  Back home even Amitabh Bachan twelve years younger than Chaaru Haasan is doing supporting roles and its a real unique thing that Kamal’s elder brother has got this chance so late in his life.

‘Dhadha 87’ produced by Venu Ravichandran under the banner Kalai Cinemas and directed by Vijay Sri G  has music by Leander Lee Marty, cinematography by Raja Pandi and edited by Sri Vatsan.  The trailer already has over one and a half million organic views on YouTube which in itself  is a huge achievement for this team and its ageing Superstar.  It could be the dark horse winner at the March 1st box office on its release.
