'Care Of Kancharapalem' is not going to be considered for the National Film Awards because its producer, Praveena Paruchuri, is not an Indian citizen. Taking to Twitter, the independent producer has expressed regret by conveying a sorry to the film's debutant director.
"SO SORRY, Venkatesh Maha. The film, which is your hard work and talent, is NOT ELIGIBLE to be recognized at the #indiannationalfilmawards because it was produced by me - a US citizen although of Indian origin ...I failed you," she tweeted out today.
The film, featuring non-actors mostly, has won several awards at private events in the last one year or so. It was released last September by Suresh Productions. Rana Daggubati bought it to encourage the novel cinema.
