Breaking! Tirumala, & all major religious places in AP closed

The Andhra Pradesh government has shut down the world-famous Lord Venkateswara Swamy Temple in Tirumala till March 31 to contain the spread of Coronavirus.  There will be no darshan of the Lord from Thursday evening.  

The temple’s rituals will continue to be carried out in the absence of pilgrims.  Two ghats leading to Tirumala have been shut down.  

In a statement on Thursday evening, Health Minister Alla Kali Krishna Srinivas added that all major temples, masjids and churches too shall remain closed till March 31.

Theatres and malls will also remain shut.  

Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy today had held a review meeting after AP registered its second positive case of COVID-19.
