A prominent Kerala businessman, Bobby Chemmanur, has been arrested by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) after a sexual harassment complaint was filed by Malayalam actress Honey Rose. According to an unnamed police official, charges were filed under non-bailable offenses, leading to the arrest in Wayanad.
Addressing the media, Honey Rose expressed relief over the action taken. She stated, "Today is a peaceful day for me. When I brought this issue to Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, he assured me of strict action against the accused." Honey Rose, well-known for her role in the 2012 movie "Thiruvananthapuram Lodge," had recently lodged the complaint against Bobby Chemmanur, head of Chemmanur Group, known for their jewelry business. Chemmanur previously gained attention for bringing football legend Diego Maradona to Kerala in 2012.
Bobby Chemmanur's arrest followed a social media post by Honey Rose earlier this week, where she alleged misconduct by a businessman without naming him. She claimed that despite refusing further invitations to his company’s events, he continued to exploit her name for publicity. In her statement, she emphasized, "No woman should be disrespected, no matter the power or wealth of the person involved." Following her warning of legal action, the SIT began its investigation, culminating in today (Wednesday)’s arrest.
