Biopic on legendary Kaloji announced

Kaloji Narayana Rao, the legendary Telangana poet, political activist and freedom fighter, is regarded as one of the most original thinkers of the 20th Century India.  A recipient of Padma Vibhushan, he passed away in 2002 at the age of 88.

The news is that a Telugu-language biopic has been announced and the feature film will celebrate his works and depict his life and times.  Titled ‘Kalanna’, it will be directed by Dr. Prabhakar Jaini, an acclaimed novelist.  “Pre-production works are going on.  Kaloji wrote poetry in Telugu, Hindi, Urdu and Marathi.  Since today (Sept 9) is his birthday, we have announced the project officially,” the makers say.

Music is by Ghantasala Viswanath.  Prabhakar Jaini is penning the dialogues, screenplay and will wield the megaphone.
