Big Telugu hero gives nod to super hit Tamil remake

Remember Dil Raju-produced 'Police', starring Kollywood superstar Vijay?  The film hit the screens last summer amid modestly high expectations.  While the Tamil original, titled 'Theri', is one of the biggest grossers in the history of South Indian cinema, the Telugu version came a cropper.  It didn't even receive critical appreciation even though its young director Atlee has quite a lot of goodwill, thanks to 'Raja Rani'.

As per a highly placed source, in what may be a curious case, the film will be remade into Telugu with a star hero, that too, a big one at that!

Since 'Police' was a flop, the makers seem to be assuming that its subject is not familiar to the audience.

Even if one discounts this fact, the gamble is huge.  One also wonders who is that star hero who has given the nod for a remake of this kind.  It also speaks volumes about the obsession with remakes among some of our heroes, so much so, a film that has already been released by a big production house is being sought to be remade.
