Popular Tamil actor Soori, currently shooting for his upcoming film ‘Mandadi’, attended the traditional Jallikattu event at Palamedu, Madurai, yesterday (January 16) to witness the thrilling bull-taming spectacle during the Pongal festivities.
During the event, Soori paid respects to Tamil Nadu Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin by presenting him with a shawl and a symbolic bull statue as a gesture of appreciation for the cultural significance of Jallikattu. Photos and videos of the moment quickly went viral on social media.
However, one X (formerly Twitter) user criticized Soori harshly, accusing him of being overly deferential and even using derogatory terms like calling him a “₹200 slave” while questioning his motives and future film releases.
Soori responded promptly and maturely on his X account, posting a thoughtful reply:
“Brother, the identity of a Tamilian is precisely this culture of speaking respectfully without insulting anyone. Just because something gets attention doesn’t make it true. If there’s respect, there should also be responsibility. Accusations without evidence are not opinions—they’re just noise. In cinema, a film’s journey isn’t decided by money, politics, or those who talk about it. Today, Content is King in cinema. It’s not the noisemakers who judge it—it’s every section of the audience who watches it. If it’s good, it will stand on its own; if not, nothing can save it. That’s justice. That’s the truth.”
Following Soori’s dignified response, the same user who trolled him deleted the critical post and publicly apologized to the actor.
Soori replied graciously once again:
“Brother, realizing one’s mistake and accepting it is always worthy of respect. Even in the name of fun, using someone else’s name, image, or shadow to create issues is not right. It diminishes value for both us and them. In this world, everyone has a place and a reason. Words and actions that forget this are unacceptable.”
The exchange has received widespread praise on social media, with many netizens commending Soori for his calm, principled stand and emphasis on Tamil culture, responsibility, and the power of good content in cinema. Others appreciated the troll’s maturity in acknowledging the error and seeking forgiveness.
Soori, a Madurai native known for his grounded personality, has often spoken about his deep connection to traditions like Jallikattu, calling it an essential part of Tamil identity. He continues filming ‘Mandadi’ (directed by Mathimaran Pugazhenthii) and has other projects in the pipeline.
This incident serves as a positive reminder that respectful dialogue can turn criticism into understanding—even on social media! Fans are lauding Soori’s maturity and class.
