Remember the movie ‘Saattai’ in which Samuthirakani gave some serious teacher goals. The way his character handled the students, faced obstacles and his constant striving to help students realise their potential was very much appreciated. Students suddenly wanted a teacher like Samuthirakani.

In the movie there is a particular scene where the students would express remorse and get emotional when Samuthirakani leaves the school. If you thought that no present day teacher would be like that, then get set to be startled.

Seems like there is actually one. His name is Bhagawan, an English teacher in the Thiruvallur government high school. When his transfer was announced, students protestes it so much so that officials had to defer it by ten days. It is worth noting here that even the Parents Teachers Association members sought the help of local MP PM Narasimhan to stay the transfer.

“I was stopped by students when I stepped out of the office. They took away my scooter key first. Then they snatched my bag, crying and shouting loudly. Then they literally dragged me to the classroom. I earned not only my salary but their love and affection too,” he said.

Sure, Bhagawan has not only earned himself a good name but has also set the bar high for other teachers to aim.
