Arvind Swamy has stepped into the shoes of MGR, the iconic figure of Tamil Nadu, who was instrumental in the political career of Jayalalitha.

Meanwhile, there have been a lot of speculations that makers of Thalaivi have approached Nandamuri Balakrishna to play the role of senior and late actor turned politician Nandamuri Taraka Ramarao. Jayalalithaa and NTR were good friends and considering their rapport in films and politics, director Vijay has planned to showcase their friendship on the silver screen.
Balayya Babu has turned down the proposal to play his father in Thalaivi. While the exact reason has not been revealed, but it is said that the actor doesn’t want to play the same character again.
Co-produced by Vishnu Vardhan Induri and Shaailesh R Singh, Thalaivi will release in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu in June.
