Mega Energy, Festive Vibes: Anil Ravipudi on Delivering a Complete Family Entertainer This Sankranthi

Director Anil Ravipudi is returning to the Sankranthi box office with the much-awaited family entertainer Mana Shankara Vara Prasad Garu, starring Chiranjeevi in the lead role and featuring Venkatesh in a key extended appearance. Produced by Shine Screens and Gold Box Entertainments, the film is set for a grand worldwide release on January 12 as a Sankranthi festive offering.

Speaking at a press interaction, Anil Ravipudi admitted that he feels noticeably calmer this year compared to his previous releases. “I’m definitely more relaxed. The nervousness has reduced, and the main reason is Chiranjeevi garu himself. The positive energy he brings—whether through his dance, humour, or presence—automatically creates confidence,” he said.

The director revealed that the viral hook-step song was not part of the original plan. Initially conceived as a melody, the song evolved after a rain interruption during shooting. “Chiranjeevi garu said nature itself was giving us a signal. That moment changed everything, and what followed was pure Mega magic,” Ravipudi explained. He credited composer Bheems Ceciroleo for delivering a fresh, mass-appeal tune and lyricist Ramajogayya Sastry for coining the now-popular phrase ‘hook step’.

Ravipudi also spoke about his preference for working with local technicians. “Bheems strongly encourages local talent. From singers to choreographers, many regional artists have found recognition through this film. That gives me immense satisfaction,” he noted, praising choreographers Bhanu Master, Vijay, and Aata Sandeep.

Addressing his Sankranthi success streak, Ravipudi was cautious. “Being labeled as a ‘Sankranthi director’ increases pressure. I just want audiences to feel that I deliver good entertainment during festivals. Content is the ultimate winner,” he said.
