'Baahubali' singer Daler Mehndi convicted, bailed

Daler Mehndi, the popular Punjabi pop singer who is admired by music-lovers across the country, was today convicted by a Patiala court in a human trafficking case. He was taken into custody by the police, only to be bailed out hours later.
The case in which the singer has been convicted for 2 years pertains to 2003. As per a news agency, Daler and his brother had in 1998 and 1999 illegally sent some people to a foreign country as members of the former's troupe. The brothers did so by charging them very high passage money. In all, 10 people were "dropped off illegally" by the brothers.
On getting bail, Daler has said that he will appeal in a higher court.
'Jorse Jorse' in 'Magadheera' and 'Banthi Poola Janaki' in 'Baadshah' are two of his big hits in Telugu. Above all, the title track in 'Baahubali-2' is his biggest hit ever across languages.
