Australia's women cricketer Delissa Kimmince, who had proposed to her Women's Big Bash League (WBBL) franchise Brisbane Heat teammate Laura Harris after Brisbane Heat won the WBBL title in the 2018-19 season, has now announced that the two of them are married.
Sharing pictures from their wedding ceremony on Instagram, Delissa wrote, "Thank you to everyone who made our wedding day the best day of our lives. To the bridesman and bridesmaid thank you for being our sidekicks. To all our family and friends who shared this day with us, we are truly grateful for all the love and good times we get to share with you." Soon after the couple won the WBBL title in the 2018-19 season, Delissa reportedly confessed her feelings for Laura on September 26, 2019. Laura accepted the proposal and announced their relationship via social media. Interestingly, Laura had hit the winning run for their side in that edition of the tournament and won the WBBL title after defeating Sydney Sixers in the final.
Regarding Delissa's promise to propose to Laura following the tournament, the player had earlier mentioned, "Laura broke her finger playing cricket, so I was never getting a ring on it anyway. I didn't know what size ring she was, and I didn't know how they made them to get over a broken knuckle." Speaking about her reaction to the proposal, Laura stated, "She was a bawler. I'm normally the crier in the relationship, but she broke down for this one, which I feel really good about. I say she really just proposed to give me something to do while she's away so much at the minute."
Several other women cricketers, including Amy Satterthwaite and Lea Tahuhu of New Zealand, Alex Blackwell and Lynsey Askew of Australia, Megan Schutt and Jess Holyoake, Jess Jonassen, and Sarah Vern and South Africa's Dane van Niekerk and Marizanne Kapp, have made their relationship public, and Delissa and Laura are the latest to join them.
