“Arya Got Me Hooked on Rajinikanth!” – Santhanam Shares Hilarious Anecdotes at ‘DD Next Level’ Event

At the promotional event for his upcoming film DD Next Level, actor Santhanam entertained the audience with a series of humorous stories—especially one involving his longtime friend Arya and superstar Rajinikanth.

Speaking at the event, Santhanam said, “Arya is my lifelong friend. We became close while working together on the film Oru Kal Oru Kannadi. Right from the beginning, we hit it off.”

Recalling a funny moment, he shared, “During a shoot, some wealthy women from Bangalore visited the set. Arya introduced me to them as ‘Santhanam, the comedy superstar of South India.’ At that time, I had only done two films like Manmadhan. The women stared at me with suspicion. Arya then asked me to perform a joke, and he did one too. The director saw us fooling around and scolded us!”

Santhanam continued, “Later, when I was acting in Settai, Arya gave me the title ‘Comedy Superstar.’ Then, when I worked with Rajini sir in Lingaa, he asked, ‘Are you the comedy superstar?’ I quickly said, ‘No sir, that’s Arya’s doing!’ Rajini laughed and said, ‘How can someone give you a title without my permission?’ Arya then jokingly said, ‘Looks like Rajini sir has caught me!’”

Also present at the event, actor Silambarasan (STR) praised Santhanam, saying, “Even though Santhanam is doing hero roles, I told him he should continue doing strong comedy roles too. That’s why I asked him to act in STR 49. He agreed, and I believe he’ll do more memorable comedy characters in the future.”

The event was filled with laughter, camaraderie, and excitement, further boosting expectations for DD Next Level.
